Artists in Oracle and Surrounding Communities

"My desire is to give once loved and forgotten furniture and unusual small items new life through color and whimsy, revive their usefulness in this disposable world and change that old forgotten piece into a new, one of a kind, colorful and useful work of art. I call it Transformative Art, like the once forgotten and loved pieces of furniture my dormant inner passion has resurrected.

As a mother of seven in southern and central California, I drew and colored with my children and used my artistic abilities to decorate for various school functions. Born in Tucson, I moved back in 2000, and a year later to Oracle. I was delighted to hear that Oracle supported an art community. I like that kind of energy but never suspected that I would become part of it.

Upon awakening early one morning, I strolled into the living room and flicked on the TV. An artist was showing how to paint mountains. Within an hour, I was outside trying my hand at it. I painted on an old end table all day with never an inkling of time passing until it began to get dark. I was not hungry, thirsty, tired, only excited and energized! After that I began keeping my eye out for sturdy little tables and small items that inspired me. I discovered that angles and corners of small unusual pieces of furniture captured my imagination and triggered my creativity. I added designs and pictures with acrylics.

Family and friends started seeing my work and expressed how much they liked it. Right away I sold the original table I had painted and then much to my surprise, I got an order for two more, then a few more orders and that told me, I had been given another chance to do what I love: paint and create. Lucky me!"
